112th St. Students rock at the Region South STEAM Gala on 5/4/24

Students ranging from 3rd Grade to 5th grade participated this past Saturday May 4th, 2024 at the LAUSD Region South STEAM Gala that took place at Gardena High School in the city of Gardena. Students from all over the district showcased their projects in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math, Robotics, Music and much more.

Our students presented their project on Vertical Farming, a practice of growing crops in vertically stacked layers. It often incorporates controlled-environment agriculture, which aims to optimize plant growth, and soilless farming techniques such as hydroponics, aquaponics, and aeroponics. The students were wonderful and they also got to participate in other presentations from other school. Overall a great day for STEAM and a wonderful opportunity to expose kids and adults to STEAM concepts.

A big thank you to our students, Mr. Zaragoza, Mr. Santos and Mr. Hernandez for their hard work and dedication to make this project happen.
